PHL's terminals are connected airside in one long arc, so a checkpoint at one end plus a gate at the other is a real walk. A-West to F is about 1.3 miles end to end, which is a half-hour walk if you are the one doing it.
Checkpoint load follows American's connection banks; early morning is the crunch. Once through, you can walk the whole airside from A-West to F, which rescues wrong-terminal mistakes at the cost of time. The one free shuttle runs only to Terminal F, from single gates in A and C, so everywhere else a far gate really is the walk.
The plan allows 25 minutes for a standard lane on a busy but normal morning. With TSA PreCheck, that drops to 15 minutes. A checked bag lengthens the one before it.
SEPTA's Airport Line regional rail runs from Center City directly to the terminals every half hour, which beats guessing at I-95 or the Schuylkill at rush hour. The Airport Line stops at each terminal group rather than one shared station, so the train delivers you to your own baggage claim.
