The Silver Line connects the terminals to South Station and the Blue Line stops a short shuttle ride away . Both skip the tunnels, which is the main advantage of taking transit at Logan. If you drive at rush hour, the tunnel is the buffer. Logan is also the rare airport with a real water option: ferries run to the Seaport and downtown when the weather cooperates.

Two hours before a domestic departure is a solid default, three for international. Trim it only on routes and hours you already know well. Logan is close to downtown as the crow flies, but every road route goes through a tunnel, and the tunnels are what blow up the estimate. Each terminal has its own curb on a one-way loop, so overshooting yours means going around again rather than pulling over.
Four terminals with separate checkpoints; the connector walkways between them are long, so arriving at the wrong terminal costs more than it looks like it should. Each terminal screens for its own gates, so the line you can see is only useful information if it happens to be yours. Treat the 25-minute security row in the plan above as a starting point you can edit: TSA PreCheck usually shortens it, and a checked bag usually lengthens the step before it.
It changes both ends of the chain. Boarding opens earlier: the “International” chip above the plan starts it 45 minutes before departure instead of 30, which pulls every step above it earlier too. Check-in usually means the airline desk instead of a kiosk, since documents get checked and counters often close an hour before departure, so choose “Airline desk” under Bags and give that row room. That choice also covers anyone a kiosk can't help: lap infants, unaccompanied minors, oversized bags. If your boarding pass names a boarding time, edit the boarding row until its start time matches it.
Work backward from the departure time on your ticket, in order: boarding, time at the gate, the walk, security, bag drop, parking, then the drive, 20 minutes in the default plan. Swap that drive for your own route at the hour you'll actually leave. The calculator above runs the math; the leave-by moment is the first travel row, "Drive to BOS" in the default plan.
