That is a solid default here. Trim it only on routes and hours you already know well.
BWI runs on Southwest volume, and Southwest boards early and strictly, so the deadline that matters here is your boarding position, well ahead of the departure time. The concourses run in an arc off a single terminal, so there is no separate building to get wrong, just a longer or shorter walk down the arc.
Checkpoints are spread along the terminal arc and their lines differ; the A/B end is the busy one at peak leisure times. Southwest spreads across most of the arc rather than sitting in one place, so its concourse letter is worth reading off the boarding pass. The A/B connector has opened and joined those two concourses, so that end of the airport finally moves without a checkpoint in the middle.
The plan allows 25 minutes for a standard lane on a busy but normal morning. With TSA PreCheck, that drops to 15 minutes. A checked bag lengthens the one before it.
From Baltimore it's a short drive; from Washington it's a genuine haul that the airport's name undersells. MARC and Amtrak stop at BWI station with a free shuttle to the terminal, and the light rail runs from downtown Baltimore. From the DC side the Baltimore-Washington Parkway is the usual approach, and it has no good alternative on the days it backs up.
