Know your terminal letter before you get on International Parkway. Once you're airside, the Skylink train connects every terminal, so a wrong-terminal mistake is recoverable after security. Plan to be at the airport two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one. At an airport this size, treat those as a floor: they assume a normal day, not a holiday crush or a long security line. DFW's footprint is larger than Manhattan, so the last miles happen inside the airport, and entering at the wrong terminal exit costs real time. The terminals are half-circles with the parking inside the curve, so the walk from car to check-in is short at every one of them.
Each of the five terminals has its own checkpoints, and terminal parking sits directly across from check-in, so security is usually the calmest part of a DFW trip if you entered at the right terminal. Lines vary by terminal with no rule about which is quietest, but because Skylink links them all airside, you are never stuck with the one you picked. Treat the 20-minute security row in the plan above as a starting point you can edit: TSA PreCheck usually shortens it, and a checked bag usually lengthens the step before it.
It changes both ends of the chain. Boarding opens earlier: the “International” chip above the plan starts it 45 minutes before departure instead of 30, which pulls every step above it earlier too. Check-in usually means the airline desk instead of a kiosk, since documents get checked and counters often close an hour before departure, so choose “Airline desk” under Bags and give that row room. That choice also covers anyone a kiosk can't help: lap infants, unaccompanied minors, oversized bags. If your boarding pass names a boarding time, edit the boarding row until its start time matches it.
Work backward from the departure time on your ticket, in order: boarding, time at the gate, the walk, security, bag drop, parking, then the drive, 30 minutes in the default plan.
