Travel time to Crypto.com Arena

What the time on the ticket means

The time on the ticket is when the first act is due on, and at most shows here the doors opened an hour earlier. With a general-admission ticket that gap is not spare: the spot on the floor you get is decided by where you are in the line when the doors open, and everyone with the same idea is on the same walk in. So the plan puts you in that line before doors, and the stretch from doors to showtime is a row of its own.

With a reserved seat the deadline really is the show. Aim to be in your seat ten minutes before the first act, and budget the walk to your row: it is the part people misjudge, not the drive.

Getting to Crypto.com Arena

The venue is at 1111 South Figueroa in the L.A. Live complex, off the 110 at the 9th/Olympic exit or the I-10 at Figueroa. Transit is the strong option here: the Metro A Line and E Line stop at Pico station, a two-minute walk from the arena, and the J Line bus stops at Figueroa and Pico. Buses 28, 30, 81 and 460 serve the area.

Metrolink connects at Union Station with a transfer to the Metro. The last A and E Line trains leave Pico around 11:45pm, which is tight for an eight o’clock show that runs long with an encore. Rideshare after a show brings the usual surge; walking a block or two toward the Convention Center before requesting cuts the wait.

Crypto.com Arena was previously called Staples Center, so older directions, tickets and map pins may still use that name.

The gate, the bag, and the stairs

Doors open an hour before showtime at most concerts. Screening is the Evolv walkthrough system, which is faster than a traditional metal detector: guests keep phones, keys and wallets and walk through at a normal pace unless flagged. Bags are the part worth thinking about at home. The policy is one of the strictest in the country: bags, backpacks, purses, totes, clear bags and fanny packs are all prohibited, and the only thing allowed through is a clutch or wallet smaller than 5 by 9 by 1 inch.

There is no bag check inside the venue; Binbox lockers outside the Kobe Bryant Entrance start at $15 and are non-refundable. No outside food or drink, though one sealed plastic water bottle up to a litre is allowed. The venue is cashless. Re-entry is allowed with a ticket scan, but you go through screening again on the way back in.
