SR 520 sets you down at the Montlake exit almost at the gates, which sounds ideal until you notice the whole crowd is using one arterial to do it. The Montlake Bridge over the cut is a drawbridge, but it is held down for the hours either side of kickoff, so what stalls the last mile is the plain volume of everyone using one arterial rather than a boat going through.
The train sidesteps all of that: University of Washington station is a few minutes over the pedestrian bridge from the stadium. Do not aim for U District station, which is a different stop further north and a walk you did not plan for.
Most of the campus is already spoken for by season ticket holders, so the public spaces are scattered around the edges rather than gathered into one field, they open six hours before kickoff, and they are paid through an app rather than at a booth. The other way in is the water.
Husky Harbor keeps its slips on Union Bay just east of the stadium and they go to whoever has the donor points for them rather than whoever turns up, but anchoring out in the open bay costs nothing and books nothing, which is how most of the boats you can see from the stands got there.
Clear-bag policy at most college stadiums, and a few ban bags outright, clear ones included. Getting it wrong usually means walking back to the car and re-entering the line.

Work backward from kickoff: minutes in your seat beforehand, walk to your section, gate screening, walk from the lot, parking, then the drive (20 minutes in the default plan). That puts leave-by at 11:08 AM for a 12:30 PM kickoff. Change the kickoff time and every row moves.
It depends on the TV window, which is usually announced six to twelve days before the game. On this stadium's clock: a noon game kicks off at 9:00 AM, the mid-afternoon window at 12:30 PM, a night game at 4:30 PM. This example uses the mid-afternoon window. Weeknight and neutral-site games run their own times; the kickoff row is editable for those.
The plan allows 12 minutes for a normal walk-through queue. It runs longer in the twenty minutes before kickoff. Arriving fifteen minutes off that peak is usually enough.
