Doors open an hour before showtime at most shows here.
Enter the showtime, say which ticket and how you’re getting there, and see when to leave.
Show night at Mortgage Matchup Center, Phoenix, Arizona. Not sure which time on the ticket matters? The concert night plan covers doors, opener and headliner at any venue.
The time on the ticket is when the first act is due on, and at most shows here the doors opened an hour earlier. With a general-admission ticket that gap is not spare: the spot on the floor you get is decided by where you are in the line when the doors open, and everyone with the same idea is on the same walk in. So the plan puts you in that line before doors, and the stretch from doors to showtime is a row of its own.
With a reserved seat the deadline really is the show. Aim to be in your seat ten minutes before the first act, and budget the walk to your row: it is the part people misjudge, not the drive.
Here is the evening drawn to scale. A maps app can number the ride in. The rest is the queue at the door, the screening, and the walk to your row.

The usual show times here
There is no fixed schedule at a concert venue; the promoter sets each show's time, and these are the ones this one runs most often. Pick the one on your ticket and every step before it moves. Anything else, tap the showtime and type it in.
Doors are an hour before showtime at most shows. The arena’s own line is that door times vary by event, and every concert on its calendar with a doors time posted opens an hour before the show. The event page gives the time for yours. The event page on the official Mortgage Matchup Center site lists doors and showtime; the ticket often lists only one. If your gap is different, edit the settle-in row.
On Valley Metro Rail, the A Line gets you closest: coming from Tempe or Mesa, get off at 3rd St/Washington, and from the Downtown Phoenix Hub, board at its Jefferson St platform and get off at 3rd St/Jefferson. B Line riders from north or south Phoenix get off at the Downtown Phoenix Hub and either walk about a third of a mile or change there to the A Line.
The two 3rd Street platforms are separate, westbound trains on Washington and eastbound on Jefferson, so the train home toward Tempe leaves from Jefferson. Driving, I-10 has a Washington/Jefferson exit and I-17 a Jefferson Street exit, and a weeknight show puts you on them at the end of the evening commute.
Mortgage Matchup Center was previously called America West Arena, US Airways Center, Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix Suns Arena, Footprint Center and later PHX Arena, so older directions, tickets and map pins may still use that name.
Mortgage Matchup Center is on the southeast corner of 1st Street and Jefferson. It has more than 700 parking spaces on site, and the rest of the parking is downtown garages and lots within walking distance. The arena points you at ParkWhiz to book ahead, and says event parking generally opens about half an hour before doors.
Parking has no in-and-out, so you can’t leave the garage and come back on the same pass. Lyft drop-off points are at the arena plaza on 1st Street and Jefferson, on 2nd Street by The Ryan, on 3rd Street by the Phoenix Convention Center, and on Jefferson Street by Hotel Palomar. The only pick-up point is 3rd Street and Jefferson, at the convention center.
Public garages downtown are usually open all day. The half hour before doors is when event parking starts, and prices and access can change from one event to the next.
Doors open an hour before the show at most concerts here. The arena asks you to come without a bag if you can: with no bag, or only a clutch smaller than 4 by 6 inches, you can use the Evolv express lanes, which it calls the quickest way in. Small clutches and crossbody bags are allowed, and purses, medical bags and diaper bags up to 14 by 14 by 6 inches get in with extra screening. Backpacks are not allowed, apart from single-compartment drawstring bags, and some concerts run their own item rules.
No outside food or drink; the sealed water bottle allowance is for Suns and Mercury games only. Tablets are not allowed at concerts, and signs can be no bigger than 8½ by 11 inches at the concerts that allow them. Tickets are mobile only, in the Ticketmaster app or the Suns-Mercury-Arena app. The arena is cashless, and reverse ATMs near the Ticket Office and Section 218 turn cash into a prepaid card. There is no re-entry.
Doors, lots and bag rules change; the official site is the live source.
For a general-admission ticket, be in the line before doors, which are an hour before showtime at most shows here. Be there half an hour before they open, and the ticket chip rebuilds the plan around that. For a reserved seat, aim to be at the gate 28 minutes before the show, which is what the plan above shows. The parts to budget for are the walk from a downtown garage and the screening line at the door. Carrying a bag adds about ten minutes to that.
About 6:51 PM from Phoenix with a reserved seat, driving in, travelling light. Earlier for a general-admission floor ticket or a bag to screen. Every row above is editable; the first travel row is your leave-by time.
