The Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue deliver you to the stadium, with Loop 289 and I 27 feeding them from further out, and most people flying in land at Lubbock and drive the last twenty minutes. Wes Kittley Drive closes between Eighth Street and Canton Avenue from three hours before kickoff until about an hour after the game, which catches anybody planning to be dropped near Gate 1.
Citibus runs a shuttle for six dollars return, booked through the GoPass app, but it starts from that free lot by the health sciences centre rather than from anywhere in town, so it is a parking decision rather than a way of skipping the drive.
Nearly all the close parking sells as a season permit, but there is a free public lot northwest of the health sciences centre and a paid garage at Raider Park, and the free one is also where the shuttle picks up. RVs arrive the evening before and stay the night. Tailgating is allowed in the paid lots as long as it stays inside the space you paid for. Raider Alley, the free pregame party at the Engineering Key, opens to everyone four hours before kickoff.
Clear-bag policy at most college stadiums, and a few ban bags outright, clear ones included. Getting it wrong usually means walking back to the car and re-entering the line.

Work backward from kickoff: minutes in your seat beforehand, walk to your section, gate screening, walk from the lot, parking, then the drive (20 minutes in the default plan). That puts leave-by at 1:08 PM for a 2:30 PM kickoff. Change the kickoff time and every row moves.
