OAK is the easiest Bay Area airport to use: compact terminals, close parking, and short inside legs. The real risks are 880 traffic and the checkpoint at Southwest's morning peak. The two terminals sit side by side and connect after security, so being dropped at the wrong door costs a short walk and nothing else.
Lines are short most of the day; the early-morning Southwest bank is the one window where the checkpoint backs up. Each terminal has its own checkpoint, so the queue you can see is not the whole airport's queue. Because the terminals connect airside, clearing the shorter one still gets you to your gate.
The plan allows 20 minutes for a standard lane on a busy but normal morning. With TSA PreCheck, that drops to 10 minutes. A checked bag lengthens the one before it.
BART reaches the terminals via the connector from Coliseum station (~8 minutes, every six). Drive off I-880 or 98th Avenue is quick outside commute hours. From most of the East Bay, OAK beats SFO on door-to-gate time. Parking is close enough to walk. Signage may say Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport.
